More detail on this person: Worthington M Mahone of Melbourne, FL. COL Mahone was a WWII, 31 year, U.S. Army veteran who served with the 96th Infantry Division. His last command assignment was the Commanding Officer of the 164 Combat Aviation Group during the Vietnam War. A rated Pilot by the US Army and the USAF, he was qualified in many types of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. He served in Washington, is a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Fort McNair, a graduate of the Army Command and Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS and the Augusta Military Academy at Fort Defiance, VA. His last tour before retiring was with the Combat Developments Experimentation Command at Fort Ord, CA, where he was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Experimentation. Retiring, he became an active Architectural Designer and Contractor in CA & TX. He was married to Mina Ayers Matthews of Williamsburg, VA for 58 years before her death in 2006. Surviving are his wife, Jean Sinko Mahone; children, Patricia Metzger, Leigh (Paul) Hoburg; granddaughters, Megan and McKenna Metzger; step-children, Lesley Harris, Bill (Beth) Sinko, Jr, Margo (Dennis) Ruggiero; step-granchildren, Andrew Harris, Madison Sinko, Alexandra and Jacob Ruggiero. Beckman-williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach, FL is serving the family.
