More detail on this person: John C. "Jack" Murphy, 75, of Elizabethtown, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, KY. Mr. Murphy was born and raised in New Jersey and settled in Kentucky after his service in the Army. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served with the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam war. He was retired from Civil Service, Fort Knox, KY. His memberships include American Legion Post #113, Elizabethtown, KY, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, and he was twice the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross medal. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law & best friend, Scott Reilly. Survivors include: His wife of forty-seven years, Stella Murphy of Elizabethtown, KY; five sisters, Joan Georgiana & her husband, Jim of California, Maureen Walsh & her husband, Bernard of Florida, Kathy Reilly of New Jersey, Pat Ricciardelli & her husband, Artie of New Jersey, Sheela Williams of New Jersey; and twelve nieces & nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY on Tuesday, May 7 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to any favorite charity of choice. Mr. Murphy's favorite charity was helping the homeless.
