More detail on this person: Mr. Robert Bruno Montarro, born on March 6, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Margaret Chacho and Anthony J. Montarro, passed away at age 72 on August 6, 2018 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Robert graduated from UCONN with a BA in Political Science in 1968. Robert served in the Army as a helicopter pilot First Lieutenant in Unit C Troop, 3rd Squadron 17th Air Cavalry, 1st Aviation Brigade and was wounded in action in the Vietnam War. He is recipient of numerous medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and was promoted to Captain. He worked at American Airlines as a flight attendant for many years and retired in 2004. He later began his work for the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor where his flight jacket is displayed. He was active in many organizations including the Vietnam Veterans of America, DNA and a parishioner at St. Francis and St. Clare in FL. Robert is survived by his spouse, Michael Manello; his stepchildren, Michael, Madeline and Marisa; his loving brother and sister, Anthony P. Montarro and Joyce Weglarz: and his many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and a special longtime friend G. Timmer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Chacho and sister in law, Eleanor; and sister, Joan Thomas and brother in laws, Richard Thomas and Michael Weglarz. He is also predeceased by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment will be Arlington National Cemetery to be announced. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Father Nicholas Pavia on Saturday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Rd., Stratford, Connecticut, 06615. Donations can be made in Bobby's name directly to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Checks made out to: TIPC-NPHHH, and mailed to: P.O. Box 207, Vails Gate, NY 12584.
