More detail on this person: Rodger A. Marcum Rodger A. Marcum Journal-Standard, The (Freeport, IL) - Wednesday, March 2, 2005 FREEPORT - Rodger A. Marcum, 56, Freeport died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at his home. Born Dec. 21, 1948, in Freeport, he was the son of Melvin and Ardeth (Knodle) Marcum. Rodger was a mail carrier for the Freeport Post Office for 30 years until his retirement in March 2004. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served two terms. His memberships included Shannon American Legion Post Boyle Hoy #374, Freeport Eagles Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his parents, Melvin and Ardeth Marcum of Freeport; one daughter, Alycia (Steven) Simler of Freeport; one brother David (Heather) Marcum of Cedarville; one sister Linda Cooper of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle and Jeremy Simler, all of Freeport. One infant daughter preceded him in death. Cremation rites were accorded. A gathering will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Walker Mortuary followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Don Jamerson will officiate. Burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date.
