More detail on this person: James "Jim" McElroy was born June 20, 1930, and died at the age of 86 at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at a Dallas medical facility.. Memorial service; A service is planned for family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, by stepson, Mehrdad Moayedi. A military service is being planned for 11:15 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at the National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, 75211. Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Dragon is Forever for over 500 combat hours, 650 combat missions, outstanding performance of duty, dedication and bravery, discipline and patriotism. Survivors: Jim is survived by his former wife, Behjat McElroy of Dallas; four children, son, Robert McElroy of Dallas, son, Timothy McElroy of Pennsylvania, daughter, Theresa McElroy Harris of Bedford and stepson, Mehrdad Moayedi of Dallas. Jim is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Miranda, Shannon, Sarah, Lily, Michelle, Ryan, Savannah, Austin, and Rider.
