More detail on this person: Jack Aaron Matson, 63 12/09/1947 ~ 10/16/2011 OCEANSIDE -- Jack Aaron Matson, accomplished real estate broker, astute investor, decorated war veteran, and dedicated father, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in his Oceanside home. Jack grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania, the oldest of three children to Norbert J. Matson and Mari Ann (Toni) Fortuna. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Jack served as an Army officer and helicopter pilot, where he earned several medals including two purple hearts. In 1972, Jack married Nancy Delavern, and followed his ambition to San Diego, where he became the proud father of two boys and started his real estate career. Jack's passion was helping San Diegans purchase their first home. He took pride in building lasting relationships with his many satisfied clients. As a trusted mentor, Jack was a kind soul who touched many lives; a skilled listener who would patiently ask the right questions as he helped you reach your own solution. Jack later married Jackie Borner Matson, his long-time partner in life and real estate. Together they enjoyed sailing, tennis, traveling, camping, bonfires on the beach, and spending time with family. Jack was truly an honest man with a passion for learning and self- improvement. He led by example, with a can-do attitude and honorable strength of character that inspired others to see the potential for achieving any goal they set their mind to. He is survived by his love, Jackie Matson; along with her three children, Kirk, Kim, and Kristy; and grandchildren; his two sons, Jeff and Justin; their mother, Nancy Matson; his mother and father, Toni Klins and Norbert Matson; his siblings, Scott and Debra; along with his many loving extended family and friends.
