More detail on this person: John A Meehan ( December 07, 1930 - March 18, 2016 ) John Alan Meehan, age 85, formerly of Collinsville, IL born December 7, 1930 in Granite City, IL passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Caseyville Nursing Home in Caseyville, IL. John graduated from Watseka High School in Watseka, IL in 1948. He retired after 30 years of service as a printer for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. After retirement, he was a golf instructor at Disney World. He was an Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a Post Commander for the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Emmett Meehan and Cecilia nee Bell Alexander; and a brother, Emmett Meehan. He is survived by his spouse, Marilyn nee Walsh Meehan, whom he married on September 9, 1950; a son, John (Jan) Meehan, Jr. of Shiloh, IL; three daughters: Laura Bone of Maryville, IL, Toni (Darrell) Walling of Collinsville, IL and Kelly (Joe) Ossola of Collinsville, IL; 8 grandchildren: Chad (Stephanie) Walling of Collinsville, IL, Emily (Erik) Wiedower of Maryville, IL, Josh (Lindsay) Walling of Caseyville, IL, Leslie (Darrin) Compton of Maryville, IL, B.J. Bone of Glen Carbon, IL, Matthew Bone of Los Angeles, CA, Rainy (Nick) Reinhardt of Collinsville, IL, and Ryan Ossola of St. Louis, MO; 9 great grandchildren: Kennedy, Makena, Preston, Dane, Casen, Liam, Hannah, Reese, and Stella; two brothers: Jerry (Barb) McAnarney of Hot Springs Village, AR and Paul "Mick" (Sandy) McAnarney of Watseka, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Ashkum Township Cemetery, Ashkum, IL with military honors. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven, FLand will be accepted at the funeral home.
