Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Haire Sr. officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24th at the funeral home.

Michael Robert Mortson was born on October 29, 1944 in Frederic, Wisconsin to Robert C. Mortson and Eunice (Ramsdell) Mortson. Michael was a graduate of Nappa High School in Nappa California and received his Bachelor's degree from Cameron University in 1989. Michael enlisted in the United States Army in 1963, serving in the Vietnam War as a fixed wing pilot with 156 ASA. He continued his career in the military reaching the rank of CW4 as a pilot for the US Army serving in tours overseas in Thailand before retiring from service in 1984. Michael married his wife Gerry (Rawlings) Mortson on October 3, 1987 in Duncan.

Michael continued his career in aviation working at a Tech writer/Managing editor at Tinker Air Force Base before retiring in December 2012. Mike was a member of the American Legion post 9 in Marlow, Ok. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his sons and helping them during their time with the Boy Scouts and their troop 4417 and pack 4409, and he enjoyed meeting up for lunch with his coworkers at Tinker AFB.

Michael is survived by his wife of 26 years, Gerry Mortson of the home; sons, Victor Mortson and his fiancée Rebecca of Kansas City, Kansas, and Max Mortson, of the home; brothers, Thomas Willis of Wyoming, and David Visich of Enid, Oklahoma; sisters, Paulette Hill of Vallejo, California and Penny Khouie of Fairfield, California; grandsons, Robert Roberts and Ian Mortson of Lone Grove, Oklahoma and his friend and former wife Barbara Neal Mortson and their sons, James Mortson and his wife Patrice of Falls Church, Virginia, Christopher Mortson and Lisa of Lone Grove, Oklahoma.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mortson and Eunice Mortson Sands; a sister, Judy Lerseth; nana, Amanda Elizabeth Ramsdell.

Pallbearers will be his sons, Victor Mortson, Max Mortson , James Mortson, Christopher Mortson, his brother, David Visich and brother-in-law, John Rawlings. Honorary bearers are members of the American Legion Post 9 of Marlow, OK.
