More detail on this person: Horace Or Fred Morton, 57 Horace Morton Houston Chronicle (TX) - Thursday, April 8, 2004 TX United States HORACE "FRED" MORTON, 57 of Houston, TX, passed away after a long illness, Wednesday, April 7, 2004, Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Horace William and Vera Bailey Morton of Woden, TX and his brother, Ricky, of Pasadena, TX. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Pollan Morton, and their children, Travis (16), Grant (13), and Amber (10), as well as his sister, Diane Morton Lowery and her husband Tom, of Etoile, TX. Fred was an Army helicopter evacuation pilot in the Vietnam War. He was highly decorated and received the Purple Heart and three Distinguished Flying Cross Medals, among other awards. Fred did not hesitate to inform his kids that "it was a pretty big deal". Fred graduated from U of H. He worked for Gerald D. Hines Interests and John Hansen Investment Builders before starting his own contracting business, Constructive Design. Family will be receiving friends at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 9, 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, 77079. Family graveside service will be held Friday, April 9 at 4:00 p.m. at Blue Springs Cemetary in Etoile, TX. The family is grateful for all the compassionate support of their friends, the community and for the doctors and staff of the VA Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to an account that has been set up for the education of Fred's children.
