Matlack, 64, of Burrton passed away Nov. 28, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 27, 1948, at Hutchinson, the son of William (Wayne) and Elizabeth Cunningham Matlack. He served in the U.S. Army, where he was a Chief Warrant Officer and was a pilot of a CH-47 helicopter. He received two Distinguished Flying Cross Medals and two Bronze Stars. He is a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton, and a lifetime member of the VFW at large. He worked as a service technician for 25 years for RV Unlimited. On Sept. 15, 1979, he married Velva Hubbell at Burrton. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Michelle (Steve) Carey of Salina, Marsha (Danny) Berg of Salina; his mother, Elizabeth Matlack-Collins of Hutchinson; three brothers, Larry (Betty), Bill (Melissa), Brian (Debbie), all of Burrton; a sister, Crystal (Tony) Koehn of Park City; five grandchildren, Ashley and Pierce Carey, Lindsey, McKayla, and Derek Berg; and mother-in-law, Beula Wilson of Gove, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Angela Matlack-Benton; a son, Troy Allan Matlack; and a granddaughter, Allyson Kaye Berg. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mike Graber officiating. Burial will follow at Burrton Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Ott Funeral Home, Haven. Memorials may be sent to the Cancer Council of Reno County, or Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, in care of Ott Funeral Home, 102 N. Wichita, Haven KS 67543.
