More detail on this person: On Monday, September 2, 2019, Timothy Michael McCann found eternal peace, as he passed away at the age of 71, with family by his side. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend - whom will be dearly missed. Tim was born in 1948 and raised a `California Kid' as the oldest of three children: Dan (Margaret) McCann and Robin (Ed) Burton, to Elihu and Una McCann in Hollywood, CA. He loved the sun, the ocean, the beaches, the warm weather and his rock-and-roll. At the age of 21, Tim joined the Army to serve his country in the Vietnam War, as a Huey MedEvac Helicopter Pilot and later continued his developed passion for service and flying in the National Guard. Following the war, Tim met & married Cathy, eventually relocating to the other state with equally beautiful beaches & sunsets - `Michigan'. He settled in the Holland/Grand Rapids area, spreading roots to raise their children, near to similar water & beaches he had grown up with - working for & eventually retiring from the US Post Office. Tim is survived by Cathy, his three children Heather (Ryan) Hiligan, Michael (Mary Alice) McCann and Brooke (Joseph) Walderzak; and four grandchildren, James McCann, Corryn Hiligan, Caileigh Hiligan and Ryder Hiligan. In retirement, Tim grew more active in his community - volunteering regularly at Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids, investing in the rapidly growing craft beer industry via a `tour company', and developing his skill at a newly found league hobby (golf). Throughout his life, Tim was a `people person' - always engaging others, bringing simple, innocent joy to their day everywhere he went: his broad smile; love for people; uplifting spirit; and genuine interest in everyone he met endeared him to all. We forever treasure his kindness and the joy he has brought to us all_ A committal service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, September 23, 2019 under the auspices of the United States Army at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan 48442 In lieu of flowers or donations, Tim's wishes were that we would each donate an hour of our time to an organization of your choosing - sharing your joy with others...
