He was born in Fort Worth, TX on August 27, 1945. He is survived by wife, Margaret; sons, Michael and Matthew; mother, Nedra Ayres Jones; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Ayres; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Helen McKay; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doug is preceded in death by his father, George Milligan. Doug was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War where he was a Warrant Officer and flew Huey helicopters. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Bronze Star and two Air Medals during his tour of service. After his military service, Doug began his broadcasting career in Hobbs, NM and continued his career in Albuquerque as a disc jockey, Channel 13 news anchorman, and an air traffic reporter. He moved on to broadcasting sales/management where he was particularly proud of his involvement with KRZY, KRST, and KAT Country radio stations. After leaving broadcasting, he pursued his interest in computer technology by helping to start a web-hosting Internet company. Doug finalized his professional career at Rich Ford where he worked in sales for two years until his death. While at Rich Ford he enjoyed one of the happiest times and ended his rich, varied and successful career. Doug and his family were very active at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish where Doug served as a lector at the 7:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. His hobbies included computers, travel, his sons and family. He has enjoyed extensive travel and was able to make good on a long-standing promise to take his immediate family to Ireland. Along with his family, Doug leaves behind his many church friends, Einstein coffee friends, work friends and neighborhood friends. Doug was a beloved and devoted son, father, husband, and friend who will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, 2004, at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brothers of Good Shepherd, 10127 Guadalupe Trail NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
