More detail on this person: Newell A. Mock, Jr., 88, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019. He was born May 25, 1931 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Newell was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a proud "Volunteer" fan. He retired from the United States Army as LTC and received his Master Aviator Wings. Newell was an avid bowler and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He was also a fierce fast-pitch softball pitcher, who even struck out Skip 3-in-a-row in Pakistan. Newell, aka Papa, will be missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Newell A. Mock, Sr.; mother, Jeanne Francis Mock; and wife of 62 years, Joan Bradley Mock. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Michelle Mock Middleton (David) and Dana Mock Milner (Scott); son, Newell A. Mock, III (Rhonda); grandchildren, Joanna Ruth Middleton, Shaun Michael Middleton (Amy), Amy Middleton Payton (Garrett), William Parker Chittum, and Jessica Johns (Joshua); great grandchildren, Victoria Michelle Pierce, Michael Blake Middleton, Ashley Brooke Pierce, Chloe Marie Middleton, Lily Grace Pierce, Chase Lee Payton, Ross Bradley Middleton, Cooper Reed Payton, Jett Elliot Johns, and Jagger Kai Johns; sister, Shelby Jeanne Wayland (Doug); and brother, Thomas Daniel Mock (Yvonne). In lieu of flowers, please follow in the footsteps of Newell/Dad/Papa and donate to your favorite charity. A service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 in the chapel at Heritage Shores Funeral Home with Brother Henry Hazard officiating.
