More detail on this person: Henry Jackson Murray (Hank) Monitor, The (McAllen, TX) - Thursday, June 26, 2008 HANK MURRAY McALLEN - Henry Jackson (Hank) Murray, 56, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at McAllen Medical Center. Hank was born on April 2, 1952 in Fredricksburg, Texas to Herbert Jackson and Clara Sue (Gifford) Murray. He was raised in Junction & graduated from Junction High School, where he met the love of his life, Vicki Jean Ray. Hank & Vicki married in 1970. He joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and proudly served his country for 10 years. He was honorably discharged in 1982 as a Chief Warrant Officer, Grade III. Hank attended Texas A & M University and was a member of the Corps and played the tuba in the Fighting Aggie Marching Band. He received an Associate of Applied Science degree from Troy State University in Troy Alabama in 1977, while serving in the Army. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved spending his spare time on the golf course and on the water. Hank was an ordained minister of the word of God. He loved studying the Word and teaching Sunday School. He taught classes at Baptist Temple and at First Baptist Church in McAllen. He served at pastor at San Isidro Church for 2 years. Hank and Vicki moved to The Rio Grande Valley in 1983 where Hank established himself in business. He owned C and M Contracting in Pharr. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Jackson & Clara Sue Murray. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 37 years, Vicki; three children, Brenda (Clint) Rabe of Edinburg, Stacy (Keith) Weaver of Donna and Charles (Christina) Murray of Edinburg; eight grandchildren, who loved their Paw, Nick, Mackenzie and Hannah Rabe; Devin, Whitney and Connor Weaver, and Calista and Patrick Murray; a brother, Michael Murray (Debbie) of Willow Park, Texas; a half-sister, Charlotte Mitcham of Smyrna, Georgia; nieces and nephews, numerous loved ones, friends and employees of C&M Contracting. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, June 26, 2008, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church, 200 Beech, McAllen, Texas. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Hank's employees and close friends will serve as pallbearers.
