Mason, age 68, of Maryville, died on Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on Aug. 9, 1933, in Indiana, the son of the late Maurice and Elizabeth Mason. He married Evelyn Reagin on Nov. 12, 1954. She survives. Also surviving is a son: Bruce Mason and wife, Dawn of Maryville; a daughter: Stephanie Stahura and husband, Mike of Maryville; a sister: Barbara Burkett of Green Castle, Ind.; two brothers: Larry Mason and wife, Terry of Green Castle, Ind.; and four grandchildren: Erica, Ryan and Emily Stahura, all of Maryville, and Kelsey Mason of Collinsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Sara Stahura. Mr. Mason was employed by the United States Army as a Lt. Col. pilot for 28 years. He graduated from Rose Poly Tech Institute in Terre Haute, Ind., and was a member of the Madison County Transit. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Dawson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Edwardsville with full military rites performed. Memorials are suggested to the Barnard Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
