More detail on this person: Ted L. McDaniel, 84, of Pomona, passed away at his residence at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in Pettett Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with military services conducted by American Legion Post 127, VFW Posts 7190 and 2605 and Jackson County DAV Chapter 69. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Cemetery.

Ted was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Murphysboro to Robert McDaniel and Ruth (Holder) McDaniel.

He served for 26 years during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer.

Mr. McDaniel was a member of Fairview Christian Church of Pomona, a member of VFW Post 7190 and American Legion Post 127 of Murphysboro.

Ted enjoyed fishing and hunting, including arrow head hunting, mushroom hunting and coon hunting.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

Ted married Helen Hunziker April 16, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., and she survives.

Other survivors include five children, Patricia Elaine Weber of Murphysboro, Jane Marie Florio and her husband, Tony Florio, of Pinckneyville, June Maureen Mann and her husband, Richard Mann, of Murphysboro, Ted L. McDaniel Jr. of Murphysboro and Tamera L. Milton and her husband, Charles Milton, also of Murphysboro; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Williams and her husband, Joe Williams, Benjamin Humm and his wife, Bertie Humm, Robert "Robby" Johnson and his wife, Amanda Johnson, Jacob Weber and his fiance, Alix Beckman, Michelle Petrick and her husband, Michael Petrick, Casey Chancey and her husband, Chris Chancey, Jessica Lynn Milton, Gavin L. McDaniel and Kyle L. Milton; eight great-grandchildren, Caylie, Tori, Colt, Aubri, Emri, Zaina, Allie and Delaynie; two brothers, Jack McDaniel and his wife, Betty McDaniel, of Troy, and Tom McDaniel and his wife, Wanda McDaniel of Ava; three sisters-in-law, Faye McDaniel of Pomona, Mary Cripps and Mary Lou Hunziker, both of Murphysboro; three brothers-in -law, Paul Hunziker, Bob Hunziker and his wife, Mary Jane Hunziker, and Terry Hunziker, all of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred McDaniel; one sister, Roberta Ellis; two brothers-in-law, William and David Hunziker; and his parents.
