More detail on this person: Mr Bailey Hardy Mcbee, 58 Community leader, war veteran dies at age 58 Greenwood Commonwealth, The (MS) - Sunday, March 4, 2001 Services for Bailey Hardy McBee, 58, of Greenwood, who died of cancer Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his residence in Greenwood, will be at 5 p.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. A private family committal service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery at a later time with full military honors. McBee was vice president of Whitney Bank in New Orleans. He was a retired banker, investor and Real Estate manager. He was a communicant of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. He was a member of Main Street Greenwood and the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce Community Pride Committee. Mr. McBee was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a lieutenant colonel and a helicopter pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster and 21 air medals along with other medals and decorations during the Vietnam War. He also was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. And, he was a member of the Knee-Deep Duck Club. He was the son of Mrs. R. Cunliffe McBee Jr. of Greenwood and the late Mr. McBee. Mr. McBee is survived by his wife, Meredith Carpenter McBee of Greenwood; a son, Bailey Hardy McBee Jr. of New Orleans; two daughters, Mary Craig McBee of Memphis and Allie McLaurin McBee of Covington, La.; a brother, R. Cunliffe McBee III of Minter City; a step-daughter, Mary Gilbert Ames of Austin, Texas; and one grandchild. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. The Rev. R. H. Craig Gates will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ward McBee, Cunliffe McBee IV, Paul Zimmerman, Donald Hunt, Mary Jo McBee, Christine Whitman McBee and Sykes McBee Zimmerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Brandt, Thad Wilkes, Jerry Hiersche, Matt Dale, Fisher Southworth, Johnny Kearney, Frank Stainback, Johnny Clark, Robert F. Carpenter III, Tommy Garrott, Chip Carpenter, Dennis Duffy, Thomas Shelton and Walt Hamera. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for trees or wild flowers for the Park Between the Bridges, Main Street Greenwood, Sta-Home Hospice, Episcopal Church of the Nativity Garden Fund, Leflore County Humane Society, the American Red Cross, or to the Community Pride Committee of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce.
