More detail on this person: This is to update your records. My father, Frank R. Meegan retired as a LTC in 1980 at the Presidio in San Francisco. He served two tours in Vietnam as a Helicopter Pilot. His first tour was with the 11th Test Aviation Group which became the 1st Air Cav. He was a Captain when he went to Vietnam in Sept of 1965 and returned around October of 1966. He was with the 147th Aviation group called the "Hillclimbers". He was an Instructor Pilot for the Huey and several other helicopter types. My mother said that he trained a lot of the pilots who were on their way to Vietnam. In the fall of 1968, he went over to Vietnam again with the 7/17th Air Cav in Pleiku. He was there for 6 months as a Major and went to take over the command of the 147th Aviation group during his second 6 months in Vietnam.

My dad died on Valentines Day in 1982. The official date was listed as Feb 15th, because the doctors had his body waiting for my brother and myself to come see him one more time before they took his body away. That was a little after midnight, so they listed it as Feb 15th. We had been with him all day, except for some time in the evening on Feb. 14th.

My father had developed Leukemia. I think the Doctors at Letterman Army Hospital had found something wrong with him the year before he retired, because they quarantined him for about a week. They lost his medical records for that period of time. The doctors found his Leukemia about 6 - 10 months after he retired from the Army in January of 1980.

We were living in Fairfield, CA when my dad died. He actually died while he was in Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco on the 14th of Feb. He is buried at the Presidio Cemetery in San Francisco.
