More detail on this person: Sun., October 29, Phillip E. Megna, 87, died in his sleep while holding his wife's hand. Born 17 March 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Irene Klopp and Philip Megna. An alumni of Peekskill Military Academy, 1947, and Williams College, 1951, Phil joined the United States Marine Corps upon graduating with a degree in Political Science. He served in the Korean and Vietnam War as a fighter pilot and helicopter pilot. While in the USMC he served as the Military Advisor of African Affairs in the State Dept. He retired from the USMC as a Lieutenant Colonel. Phil is survived by wife of 64 years, Brenda B. Megna, son Robert A. Megna, daughter Liz M. Sferrella, and grandson Franco P. Sferrella. A memorial service is to be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach 23462 on Mon., November 6 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the services.
