More detail on this person: Bronchiectasis with Fibrosis of Lungs.Ralph Merritt traveled with the 4th Division to VN and was there 8Sep66 through 29Aug67. He was a Major and CO of Co. B, 4th Avn Bn, 4th Inf Div, USARPAC-Vietnam. Upon promotion to LTC he was trfrd to HQ, IFFORCEV-USARPAC-Vietnam. He was awarded many medals for his service there.

If I'm reading his DA 66 right, he was at Ft. Rucker in 1955 in the OffStuCo (AATC#55K) and again in 1956 in (AHATC57-5).

He died in his home in El Paso, TX. His death certificate relates the cause of death as Bronchiectasis with Fibrosis of Lungs. He was found dead in his home by the coach of the school where he was teaching, when he was unable to be reached for a day.

Ralph and I were divorced 10 months before he died, so I was not with him at that time but was appointed guardian of our children. Neither of us had remarried at that time. I am still in Newport News, VA.
