Meyers, 47, a sales agent and retired Marine Corps major, died March 31, 1993, in a hospital. Mr. Meyers, a native of Maplewood, N.J., was employed with Andy Wood Investment Realty. A helicopter pilot and veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years. He was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach; president of the Virginia Beach Kiwanis Club; co-founder of Operation Smoke Detector; and was active in community and youth sports organizations in the area. He was a graduate of Lycoming College. Survivors include his wife, Kay Niman-Meyers; one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Meyers of Petersburg, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Betsy Sewell of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Scott Meyers and Christopher Robert Meyers, both of Virginia Beach; one stepson, Christopher L. Fish of Virginia Beach; one brother, James Meyers of San Rafael, Calif.; and one grandchild, Derek Lee Sewell of Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today in Bayside Presbyterian Church by Dr. Richard Keever and the Rev. Will Kiser-Lowrance. Final disposition will be private at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
