That's how his family described William G. Micho, 57, of 507 Skyview Terrace, Fairmount. Mr. Micho died Friday at Community-General Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. He was a very active, friendly man who loved to help people, according to his brother, Nicholas. ''He would plow all the neighbors' driveways,'' Nicholas Micho said. ''He was a friend to everybody in the neighborhhood,'' recalled his wife, Margaretha. ''My husband was loved by everyone.'' Mr. Micho was a native of Syracuse who lived most of his life in the area. Most recently, he was a home remodeling contractor for 18 years after a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force. During his Air Force career, he served as a staff officer and squadron commander. He was a flying officer for 12 years, and served in the Korean and the Vietnam wars. He retired from the military in 1973 at the rank of major. A 1953 graduate of Syracuse University, Mr. Micho played varsity football as a halfback on the same team with former All-America running back Jim Brown. Brown went on to play professional football with the Cleveland Browns. Mr. Micho also was educated at the University of North Dakota. Mr. Micho volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and was affiliated with the Retired Officers Association and the Reserve Officers Association. He was the chairman of the J.C. Donahue Scholarship fund, and was the past president of the Vocational High School Alumnus Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaretha Omlor; five sons, William of Fayetteville, La., Mark of Austin, Texas, Jerry of Norfolk, Va., Robert Micho of Denver, Colo., and Carl Hawley of Syracuse; four brothers, Steve of Rockford, Ill., John and Nicholas, both of Syracuse, and Paul Micho of Liverpool; two sisters, Ann Godzac of Syracuse and Eva Kotowicz of Liverpool; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
