More detail on this person: LTC Ray Miller (Ret.) died Friday, September 30, 2022 with his family by his side. He leaves his wife Margaret of 61 years, and his daughters Suzanne, Joanne and Allison to cherish his memory. He is also survived by five grandchildren, brother Russ, sister Kathy, niece Sharon, son-in-law Dan, and a large extended family. Ray grew up in Paulsboro, NJ and graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1961. A ROTC scholarship and commission in the U.S. Army began a 20-year military career during the turbulent Bay of Pigs, Berlin Wall, and two tours in Vietnam. A decorated helicopter pilot, Ray retired after commanding the Aviation Battalion at Fort Carson. Ray enjoyed a second career in trust investment banking, leading these departments at First National Bank of Colorado Springs and ENT Federal Credit Union. In their retirement years, Ray and Margaret explored six continents and many countries. Avid birders, they together logged thousands of unique bird sightings. Ray was a fantastic dancer and skier, and loved the Broncos, playing golf, camping, and dessert. Happiness was holding a golf club, his binoculars, sleeping babies, and the remote control. Many considered Ray a role model both professionally and personally. He taught us to ski and play golf (his patience was astounding!) and was an impeccable example of integrity. He was a father-figure, mentor, super Dad and husband. His Celebration of Life is October 22, 2022 at St Michael's Episcopal Church, followed by light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please support the American Red Cross, the USO, or a charity of your choice in his name. Published by The Gazette on Oct. 9, 2022.
