Monroe III, 64, of O'Fallon, born June 17, 1946 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., died Wednesday, Jan. 12. Trey was a director of corporate contracts in the aerospace industry and retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Jr. and Beverly, nee Gassler, Monroe. Trey is survived by his loving wife Nancy, nee Lindberg, Monroe of O'Fallon, three children; Lisa (Kevin) Schaefer of O'Fallon, Christopher (Rebecca) Monroe of Decatur, Ill., Jonathan (Lisa Beth) Monroe of Bethalto, Ill., a brother Terrence "Terry" (KyungHe) Monroe of Hawaii, and four grandchildren; Trey Schaefer, Kaden Schaefer, Jacob Monroe and Olivia Monroe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in honor of Trey to be made to the International Mesothelioma Program. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.schildknechtfh.com. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 at Schildknecht Funeral Home in O'Fallon. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at the funeral home with Pastor John Tennyson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at O'Fallon City Cemetery in O'Fallon. Arrangements entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
