More detail on this person: John Daniel Moorer, Jr Obituary in THE STATE, Columbia, SC, 23 Sep 2004: Columbia - Services for John Daniel Moorer, Jr., 73, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Palmer Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held on November 10, 2004 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Born in Guilford County, NC to John and Lillie Cummings Moorer, "Danny" passed on September 18, 2004. A Korean and Vietnam War veteran, he served in the United States Army as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot. After almost 25 years of service, John retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After separation from the Army, John attended law school at the University of South Carolina and upon completion of his jurist doctorate in 1981 he was admitted to the bar in 1982. John continued to practice law until his death. Surviving are his wife, Fannie Barbara Keene Moorer; daughter, Victoria Danielle Moorer of Irmo; son, John Daniel Moorer, III of Orangeburg; grandson, Ryan Gladney of Irmo; granddaughter, Stephanie Gladney of Irmo; father, John Daniel Moorer, Sr. of Orangeburg; sister, Peggy Jones; brother, William Moorer and many other friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate blood to the American Red Cross and bone marrow to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
