More detail on this person: Hubert Morris, 93, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021 after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was born the youngest of four children in Byars, Oklahoma on April 2, 1927 to Hobert and Molly Morris. Upon graduating from high school, Hubert enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and served on a minesweeper in China's three rivers region. He then enlisted with the U.S. Army as an artilleryman in the Korean War. In the 60s and 70s, he flew helicopters in Vietnam - one tour as a Cobra pilot and a second flying Hueys for MedEvac and troop transport. Hubert retired from the military after 27 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel with many honors including two Merits of Legion, Bronze Star, Silver Star, Commander General award, and many more. Hubert always felt it was his calling to help others, so he earned his Masters in Psychology and became a skilled hypnotherapist. In 1976, he established The Personal Growth Center - one of the only hypnotherapy practices in the San Antonio area at that time. The practice grew rapidly and a second arm was opened, The Academy of Hypnotic Studies, which offered classes in clinical hypnosis for health professionals. His last business adventure was creating Total Focused Golf, a mental performance program to help golfers excel at their sport. Hubert will be remembered for making crazy duck sounds that earned him the name Grandpa Duck, telling great stories and silly jokes, his passion for the game of golf, always humming a tune or strumming his guitar strings, furiously attacking a crossword puzzle, never letting a dog pass him without saying hello, and an insatiable love of family. Hubert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Chari; daughter Patricia Waggoner and her children Melanie (Matt) Nichols and Michael (Crystal) Waggoner; daughter Terri and her husband John Johnson; daughter Karen and her husband Mark Rankin; daughter Andrea and her husband Brett Schulle and their children Kate and Jacob; son Jonathan Phillips; and great grandchildren Naomi, Isaac, and Titus Nichols and Claire, Anne, and Bennett Waggoner. FUNERAL SERVICE He will receive full military honors at a private funeral service held on April 15, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Intrepid Foundation. Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation, VADogs.org, or a charity of your choice. Graveside Service Private Burial to be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors
