More detail on this person: COL Morrison was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer and became a Master Army Aviator. He was a veteran of two tours in Vietnam and the holder of the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, 12 Air Medals with Valor Device, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Gold Star. Bob died peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Bob's first passion was flying and he learned to fly when still in college. He began his 28-year military career after being called to serve his country during the Korean War in 1952. Originally destined for an assignment in Korea, he was diverted to report to Camp Bussac, Bordeaux, France to serve in the Army Signal Corps. There he met Carmen Mercedes Rodreguez, who has been his wife of 52 years and still lives in their Molino, FL home. Immediately after his military retirement in 1980, Bob became the Comptroller and Financial Manager for St. Mary's College of Leavenworth, Kansa; Kemper Military Academy of Booneville, Missouri' and the Pattonville School District of St. Charles, Missouri. He also served as Operations Manager for Lambert-St. Louis Internatiional Airport and flew as a corporate pilot for Sverdrup Corporation of St. Louis, Missouri. Finally they settled in Pensacola in 1990. ther Bob served the community as a Board Member of the Escambia County Human Relations Committee and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Escambia Charter School. Bob is survived by Carmen, his five daughters, and his five grandchildren. A Military Honors Memorial Service was held at Barrancas Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 and was supported by an Honor Guard from the US Army Aviation Center and School at Fort Rucker.
