More detail on this person: Sylvan E. Mounes Jr. "Buzz" passed away at the age of 83 on January 17, 2018. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, by his parents Sylvan and Alva. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he became a Marine Corps aviator and served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. After the war, he flew for TWA but left for a real estate career which spanned many years including co-owning a real estate company and real estate school. Later until his death, he successfully owned a general contracting company. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sandra, and a son, Joel. He is survived by his wife, Chong and daughter, Michelle Mounes. Buzz was passionate, loving, caring, and thoughtful especially to those he loved. His dedication for the Marine Corps was obvious for all who knew him. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gold searching which became a passion for him and his loving wife, Chong. Interment will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, on Friday, February 23, at 9:15 AM. Published in The Arizona Republic on Feb. 18, 2018
