More detail on this person: May 31, 1946 - Dec. 12, 2020 F. Schott Mumme, Jr passed away suddenly on December 12, 2020 at the VA Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fabian S Mumme and Joyce Guidry Mumme and his brother Raymond Paul Mumme. He is survived by his siblings: Deardra G Mumme, Deborah M Block (the late Richard H), Ann M Rizzo (Leonard J), Laura Lee M de la Houssaye (Kenneth C), and William C (Bethany Reese), as well as fourteen nieces and nephews and five grand-nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at St Pius X Church. Schott received football scholarships to De La Salle and Tulane Un. A lover of Tulane, Schott played Defensive End for the Green Wave and was a starter for four years. He and his teammates took pride in the fact that Tulane beat LSU in the "battle for the rag" a few years after they were defeated by LSU. He graduated in 1968 with a B A in Economics and was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Army. During his tour of duty in Vietnam he piloted Chinook 47 transport helicopters in the Quartermaster Corps, flying in supplies and bringing back the wounded. Schott's experiences in Vietnam left a profound effect on his life. After the war he lived in New Orleans for many years and was known for his love of muffulettas, boiled crabs, gardening, cooking, music, "Jazz Fest" & bird watching. During his career, Schott enjoyed coaching football, outside sales, and working in the family business. He later retired to a quiet life in Amite City, LA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to De La Salle or Tulane Football Program in his memory.
