More detail on this person: Walter F Marciniec, 74 MARCINIEC, WALTER F. Hartford Courant, The (CT) - Tuesday, April 11, 2000 MARCINIEC, Walter F. Walter F. Marciniec, Col. (Ret) U.S. Army, of Copper Ridge, Southington, passed away on Sunday, (April 9, 2000) of heart disease in Huntington Beach, CA, while visiting his son Steve. He was born on August 6, 1925, in Southington. Walt graduated from Lewis High School in 1943, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1948, and the University of Illinois with a Master's Degree in Engineering in 1954. He served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring as a colonel in1970. He went on to his civilian career as a construction manager for several national construction companies until 1988. He and his son Tom founded Marciniec Construction Company in 1988, and operated it until 1992 when he retired. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Kirschner Marciniec; six children, John, Mary, Barbara, Thomas, Stephen, Richard and their spouses; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jenny Urillo and family. He will be remembered as atreasured friend, a devoted husband, a generous loving father and a patient, kind and gentle "Poppy". Walter honored our Earth with his service. He worked hard, sacrificed much, and generously shared with all he knew in order to make our world a betterplace. He blessed our lives and added joy to our days. Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home in Southington. Funeral srevices will be held Thursday, April 13, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church inSouthington. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
