Spruce St., Chatsworth, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth. Father Richard Brunskill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Chatsworth, with military honors accorded by Chatsworth American Legion Post No. 613. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a rosary at 5 p.m. at Hager Memorial Home, Chatsworth. He died at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday (July 13, 1999) at his residence. Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice. Mr. Monahan was born Jan. 22, 1938, at Chatsworth, a son of Clifford and Mildred Kiley Monahan. He married Karin Maddee. She survives. He later married Cynthia Brown on April 7, 1995, in Tennessee. She survives. He is also survived by six sons, John (Jane) Monahan Jr., of Alaska; Brian Monahan, DeKalb; Ken (Angie) Monahan, of Indiana; Quin (Beth) Monahan, Savannah, Ga.; and Neil Monahan and Dalton Monahan, both of Chatsworth; one daughter, Colleen (Ken) Dyer, Tallahassee, Fla.; one sister, Elizabeth (Dirk) Kruger, Chicago; two stepchildren, Rita (Mark) Pifer and Raymond (Mary) Stone; two brothers, Mark (Collette) Monahan, Chicago; and Steve (Nettie) Monahan, Prescott, Wis.; and 14 grandchildren. The grandchildren are Tim, Erik, Ashie, Zach, Kyle, Kelsey, Grant, Kayla, Dylan, Keylea, Savannah, Alex, Tristian and Montana. He is also survived by four aunts, Dee Rieger, Catherine Farbe, Pat Monahan and Terry Monahan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Monahan was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth. He earned a bachelor of science degree in history from Ball State University. He served in the Army for 27 years, including three tours in Vietnam. He was retired from the Army. He was a life member of the NRA, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the National Skeet Shooters Association, the VFW, Bloomington Gun Club, and American Legion Post No. 613, Chatsworth.
