More detail on this person: MUNSON, Sr., ARTHUR HERBERT Title: DEATH AND FUNERAL NOTICES San Diego Union-Tribune, The (CA) - Thursday, October 12, 2006 Arthur Herbert Munson, Sr., CAPT, USN (Ret.) age 86 of Nokesville, Virginia died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Amerisist Assisted Living, Culpeper, Virginia. Mr. Munson was a loving father. He was a veteran who had served in World War II, The Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era and was Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station in Imperial Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Francis (nee Copeland) Munson, his wife, Betty Jean Munson who died in 2003, his brother, Stan Munson and his sister, Patricia Munson. Survivors include six children, Arthur H. Munson, Jr. of New Hampshire, Douglas R. Munson and wife Linda Lee of California, Patrick E. Munson of California, F. Gregory Munson and wife Melissa of Maryland, E. Geanine Munson and partner Sue Packer of Nokesville and Stanley H. Munson and wife Heidi of Ohio; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Pierce-Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Virginia. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington with full military honors. CAPT "Art" Munson, Sr. served as 2nd Commanding Officer for Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3 in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 where he was awarded the Legion of Merit Medal (w/Combat V) and Air Medal (Strike/Flight). He was also awarded a subsequent Legion of Merit Medal in 1972.
