More detail on this person: Mr Thomas Witter Nicholson, 79 THOMAS WITTER NICHOLSON Daily Press (Newport News, VA) - Monday, November 19, 2007 Thomas Witter Nicholson, 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at the Virginia Medical Center in Hampton. Born in Great Barrington, Mass., he was raised in Norfolk and was a Peninsula resident for the past 50 years. Mr. Nicholson was a graduate of Oceana High School, Class of 1946 and retired in 1968 as a CW3 from the U. S. Army at Fort Eustis, with 22 years of service. He was a veteran of WW II, Korea, and Vietnam, having earned a Purple Heart in Korea. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, and the 8th Airborne Rangers Co. Association. Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; four brothers, James, John, Edward, and William; and his sister, Chrystie Sine. He is survived by three sons, Thomas W. Nicholson Jr., currently in Germany, Paul Nicholson of Neptune Beach, Fla., and Carl Nicholson, currently stationed in Germany; and four grandsons. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 19, in Peninsula Memorial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Medical Center Volunteer Services (135), 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667.
