Nelson of Universal City, Tx. Passed away on 22 Nov. 2017 after a long struggle with lung cancer, leukemia, & COPD. He was born to Herald and Esther Nelson Apr. 2, 1942 in Chapman, Ne. He is survived by his wife Sui, daughter Maria and two grandchildren Chrysal and Brandon, his brother Dave and two sisters Cathy and Carly, and several nieces and nephews. Clinton retired after 26 years of service serving as an enlisted member and as a warrant Officer in the maintenance field. He served three tours in RVN-two as enlisted and the last as a W01 with the soth Avn Co. Out of his 26 years Clinton spent a total of 6 years with the 50ih Med. Co. better known as (MAST Military Assistance to Safety and Traffic) It was there while performing his duties as a maintenance officer and a medical evacuation pilot that CW3 Nelson was awarded the Legion of Merit for his courageous performance in saving the lives of three children who were stranded during a particularly hazardous flood situation just north of San Antonio, Tx on 6 Jun. 1985. Clinton was a hero to many, not only that day but to the many he had saved throughout his assignment with the 50ih Med. Co. Ft. Sam Houston Tx. CW3 Nelson was also a member of the Alamo Chapter, San Antonio, Tx.
