More detail on this person: James Russell Noblett (Russ) was born in 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on Long Island. He graduated from Seaford High School in 1965 and was drafted into the US Army in late 1966. Although he was wounded in Vietnam with injuries that would affect him for the rest of his life, Russ was very proud of the Army and what it did for him, and of his service as a combat engineer and Cobra helicopter gunship pilot in Vietnam in 1969. Russ always said it was about taking care of the "kids on the ground" - Russ was not yet 21 years old. Russ retired from the US Army as a Captain in the Corps of Engineers Branch. His first marriage produced three wonderful daughters, Allison, Courtney and Meredith. Divorced in 1989, Russ married Connie King in 1990. Russ and Connie enjoyed more than 30 years together as friends and sweethearts. Russ moved to Colorado in 1971 after finding Colorado State University's fluid mechanics program from afar. He earned his civil engineering degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 1974 and MBA from University of Denver in 1975. Russ spent his career pipelining crude oil and natural gas in the western United States. He became an expert in compressible fluid flow and retired from Colorado Interstate Gas as Director of Facility Planning. Russ joined the YMCA when he arrived in Colorado Springs in 1976 and chaired several of its boards. He enjoyed years of participation in golf and investments in the Syndicate. Russ and Connie spent more than fifteen exciting years racing a 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite in vintage sportscar racing. They also had fun organizing seminars for the Colorado Springs Wine Festival. After fighting pancreatic cancer for two years, Russ died on August 25th. Russ is survived by his wife Connie King, daughters Allison Coyne (George), Courtney Dutra (Nick), Meredith Giancarlo (Guy), seven grandchildren, sister Vivian Elliott (Joe) and their family. A military funeral will be scheduled at a later date.
