More detail on this person: Donald Roy Navorska Ashland, Ohio June 8, 1929 - January 13, 2022 Obituary Lt. Col. Donald Roy Navorska, USMC ret. Donald Navorska entered his heavenly home on January 13, 2022 after an extended illness. Don, as he was known to his friends, was born to Clarence and Lela Rose (Ebel) in Canton, Ohio on June 8, 1929. Don graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 1947 and enjoyed attending reunions with his classmates. He received a BS in Agriculture from OSU in 1951 and a BS in Business Administration from Ashland College in 1980. While at OSU, he was a lacrosse star, setting a scoring record that stood for more than a decade. Lt. Col. Navorska had an extensive military career spanning twenty-four years. He served in the Korean War as well as the war in Vietnam. In the Korean conflict, he served as an artillery officer and flew both fixed wing as well as rotary aircraft in Vietnam. He served as a wing commander. He enjoyed serving the churches where he lived as deacon, elder, membership outreach committee member and often serving as the head cook for large events. His service included mission trips to Guatemala and support of missions. He was a member of Grace Church in Ashland for over 50 years. He was also an active member of the Gideons. While at Ashland College, he served as a faculty advisor to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In recent years he enjoyed attending activities at Ashland Senior Center. Upon retiring to the farm in Ashland County, he applied his agricultural degree in the development of a vegetable and fruit truck farm, raising Angus beef and other livestock. He raised a variety of crops and took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his garden with others. Don is survived by his seven children: Donna Raye, Donald Roy, Jr. (Linda), Dru Fatica, Dorothy, Dr. David Reuel (Shalane), Diana (Raymond) Sullivan, and Rachel (Rob). He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David Navorska (Betty), sister Joy Guenther, and his special friend Linda Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Binder) his wife of 61 years, and sisters Beth Ann Sine and Becky Manges. A celebration of life will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 at Grace Church, 144 W. Main St., Ashland, OH at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend, online condolences may be shared at denbowfh.com .
