More detail on this person: PETERBOROUGH -
Patrick "Pat" H. Neary, 72, died unexpectedly at
his home on Apr. 14, 2015. Pat was born in
Concord, Mass. on Jan. 3, 1943, son of Alvin Neary
and Gertrude (Caswell) Neary.
Pat attended the Lincoln/Sudbury Schools. His
first job was delivering papers at the age of
seven. Later, he earned a scholarship and
graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. At St.
Johnsbury he broke many state records in running
hurdles. Then, Wake Forest offered Pat a
scholarship for his academic and athletic
abilities. He graduated Wake Forest in 1965. Pat
worked hard to pay his way through school.
In 1965, Pat joined the Army and served his
country for 20 years. He flew helicopters and was
shot down twice in Vietnam. Pat was honored with
many citations and achieved rank of Major. While
in the army, Pat received his Masters in Computer
Technology. After his retirement from the
military, Pat worked as a government contractor.
Pat loved history, enjoyed politics, and liked
attending town meetings. He was very interested in
people. Pat loved taking long walks with Schatzi,
their dog, while listening to books and/or '60s
music, waving to each passerby. Pat was a
meticulous record keeper of the books he read,
movies he'd seen, daily exercise, places he'd
been, weather, etc. He said, "I'm a numbers kind
of guy" who loved life.
Pat was so loving, generous and kind. He will be
deeply missed by all who loved him: His beloved
partner, Evie Loy along with Evie's children and
grandchildren; Pat's sister; his children,
grandchildren and other friends and relatives.
A remembrance of Pat's life is forthcoming.
