More detail on this person: Sam Newcomb Sam Newcomb, 74, a retired U.S. Army major, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at his home in Mineral Wells. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Father Jeff Kraemer officiating. Interment: 11 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Ed Hutton, Bobby Brazzell, Matt Dorr, Kenneth Martin, Jimmy Kidwell and Tony Raffel. He was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Albany, the son of Doyle and Hixie Sanders Newcomb. He married Stephanie L. Satterwhite on Sept. 1, 1956, in Ardmore, Okla. He was retired from the U.S. Army having served two tours in Vietnam as commander of a Jet Ranger company. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and had served as senior warden and junior warden on the Vestry. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Newcomb; grandson, Nyle; and brother-in-law, Ben Satterwhite. Survivors: His wife, Stephanie Newcomb of Mineral Wells; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy and Jeannine Newcomb of New Salisbury, Ind., Jimmy and Lindy Newcomb of The Woodlands; daughter and son-in-law, Jettie and Michael Pope of Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandchildren, Stacy, Chris, Shane, Tanner, Amber and Chance; great-grandchildren, Austin, Carter and Avery; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Rita Newcomb of Seminole; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Boscar and Sally Satterwhite of Breckenridge; the boys, Scottie and Snoopy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
