More detail on this person: Richard Michael "Mike" Northington, 74, of Norman, died Monday, September 14, 2020, at his home. The son of J.C. Richard Northington and Mazelle Emma (Kennedy) Northington, he was born August 3, 1946 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Mike was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He worked in sales for Georgia Pacific and retired after 30 years of service. He was Baptist in faith and often volunteered at the Norman Veterans Center. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed spending his days watching sci-fi movies with his best pal, Scooter. He enjoyed going to airshows. He was a talented woodworker and loved to make things for his family and friends. Mike was very family-oriented, always supporting his kids and grandkids at sporting events and extracurricular activities. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by one daughter, Jill Northington of Blanchard; one son, Lance Northington and his wife, Katharine, of Norman; three grandchildren, Macy Hodges and her husband, Keaton, of Blanchard, Taylon Northington of Blanchard, and Conner Northington of Norman; two great grandchildren, Jayden Hodges and Liam Hodges; one brother, Steve Northington and his wife, Barbara, of Texas; one niece, Tami Gieder and her husband, Joey, and their children, Alex and Aaron, all of Texas; and many other loved ones and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.
