More detail on this person: William J Newsom Born Jan. 2, 1948, in Moline, Ill., he died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, in Baton Rouge. Bill had a career as a licensed practical nurse and was a resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his mother, Alma G. Newsom; wife, Cheryl Newsom; sister, Mary Newsom Guidry and husband Joseph Guidry; sister, Jeannette Newsom Patterson and husband Patrick Patterson; three children, Eric Newsom, Kirk Newsom, and Dawn Newsom Yarborough and husband Marlon Yarborough; eight grandsons, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a soon-to-be great-grandson. He was preceded in death by father, Dr. L.D. Newsom; and sister, Colette Guidry. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, attended LSU and served as a warrant officer in the U.S. Army. Memorial services will be held at the Dunham Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Alec Flynt.
