More detail on this person: Thomas James Nolan III May 26, 1944 - Feb. 4, 2022 LTC Thomas James Nolan III passed away Feb. 4, 2022. Tom was a war veteran, having served in the Vietnam and Iraq war flying helicopters for the Marines and later the Air Force. Tom also spent a significant amount of time with the 304th Search and Rescue Squadron in Portland. Tom was a loyal friend and dedicated family man that grew up in the Laurelhurst area of Portland attending Central Catholic. He later raised his family in Sherwood and then Canby. He made and maintained great friends from grade school throughout his life. Tom was a dedicated father of five and he spent his time coaching, farming, mentoring and supporting his children. He was always involved in his community; from volunteering in an orphanage in Vietnam, to serving on the Canby Educational Foundation. He was a dedicated Catholic and believed strongly in the strength of family, friends and community. Tom is survived by his five children, Toai Nolan, Robert Nolan, Matt Nolan, Rian Nolan and Cara Nolan. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Costa, Max, Caitlyn and Evelyn Nolan. A graveside memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Ore. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to The Alzheimer's Association.
