More detail on this person: Mr. Elbert "Sonny" Carson Nye II, 84, Lt Col, Ret., US Army, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013. Born in Cumberland County, NJ, he was the son of Emma Miller Nye and Elbert C. Nye I. Elbert was a proud US Army veteran of Vietnam, having retired at the rank of Lt Col. He enjoyed flying his Huey helicopter, while serving his country. He was a longtime member of the NRA, attaining Golden Eagle Status. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid sportsman. He was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. His biggest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He received no greater joy than being with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Cox Nye, and his son, Donald Edward Nye.

Elbert is survived by his children, Ronald Carson Nye and wife Sandy of Guilford, CT, Victor Stewart Nye and Janie Foster of Uncasville, CT, Teresa Ann Doty and husband Doug of Lisbon, CT, and Elbert "Bert" Carson Nye III and Teresa Gennantonio of Trenton, NC. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kyle Nye, Kelly Nye, Heather Nye, Holli Nye, Ivy Nye, Rebecca Doty, Justin Doty, Brandi Nye; and his great grandchildren, Octavia, Madison, Melanie, Klover, Kailyn, and Ethan.

Graveside services, with full US Army honors, will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Pollocksville Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at the Pollocksville Community Center, 224 Foy St. Those wishing to offer words of hope and condolences may visit www.pollockbest.com.
