More detail on this person: Ricardo Colin Oeder, 73, of Moss Bluff passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 while evacuated in Dallas, TX. Mr. Oeder was born in the Dominican Republic while his dad was working there. At an early age, they moved back to the states where he was raised in Slidell, LA. He later moved to Mississippi to attend and graduate from Chamberlain Hunt Academy in Port Gibson. Mr. Oeder furthered his education in Natchitoches, LA at Northwestern State University for three years where he joined the Kappa Alpha Fraternity before enlisting in the US Army. He served during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, he continued his career as a pilot and earned his title as the Director of Operations for ERA Avaiation before retiring. He lived an interesting life with many talents, gifts, and hobbies which included collecting antiques, target shooting, and leather working. Mr. Oeder enjoyed his sports cars. He also took pleasure in playing the guitar and in his earlier years, he and his close friends started a band called the "Harmony Street Wharf". Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of nearly 43 years, Theresa Quinn Oeder of Moss Bluff; children, Doris Oeder Mhire (Ace) of Iowa and Patrick Oeder (Shelby) of Conway, AR; and grandchildren, Miles Mhire, Millie Mhire, Brooks Oeder, and William McKeown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Howard Oeder, Doris Watson Oeder, and Helen Oeder; a brother, Lowell Oeder; and a grandson, Mason Mhire. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. The Rev. Jeffrey Starkovich will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
