More detail on this person: Colonel Charles Jerry Oram JANUARY 26, 1934 - NOVEMBER 7, 2020 Colonel Charles Jerry Oram, affectionately known as Chuck, was born to parents Henry and Beulah Oram on January 26, 1934 in Oxford, New Jersey. He entered eternal rest on November 7, 2020 at the age of 86. When Chuck married his wife, Sue Kissel, on December 28, 1955 at Fort Benning, Georgia, they began their life's adventure together. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Chuck enlisted in the US Army in 1954 serving over 26 years and retiring as a Colonel. He was an Army Ranger and helicopter pilot with extensive flight hours in the CH-47 Chinook. His service included a tour of duty in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam where his bravery earned The Distinguished Flying Cross in the An Lao Valley. Chuck loved flying helicopters and served his country honorably. Chuck and his wife Sue retired to Cedar Creek Lake, Mabank Texas in 1986. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, building and fixing just about anything. He became known as the neighborhood handy man. Chuck was a kind and generous man. He was always ready to help anyone in need. Everyone knew they could count on Chuck for anything. He loved to travel with his family visiting new and interesting places. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Beulah Oram, his brother Henry Floyd Oram and wife Mary, his sisters Christina H. Oram and Elsie May Oram Murray. He is survived by his wife Sue Oram, his daughters Carol Fox and husband Joe, Jerilyn Paladino and husband Carl, grandchildren Jason Fox and wife Lindsey, Julie Brown and husband Benjamin, Jill Fox, Jeremy Holthaus, Jenna Holthaus, great-grandchildren Jake, Ellie and Leela Fox, Jade and Brooks Brown, nephews Dave Oram and wife Terrie, Gerald Oram, and niece Janis O. Schafer and husband Joe. Chuck also leaves behind great nieces Caitlyn Drane and husband Bradley, Julia Cruz and husband Raul, Janelle Schafer, and great nephew Erik Oram, also 5 great-great grand nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends. In lieu of flowers, Chuck's family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Chuck's favorite charity.
