More detail on this person: May 14, 1946 - May 20, 2018. Born in Nashville, TN, Hunt was predeceased in death by his parents Gray Moore and Dr. William Huntley Oliver, and brother Dr. Douglass Moore Oliver. Survived by his wife Deborah Whitney Oliver, sisters Gray Oliver (Charles) Thornburg, and Floy Oliver Daugherty (John) Mills of Atlanta, sister-in-law Katherine Oliver Jones, children, James "Trey" Leslie (Laura) Marshall III, and Joshua Whitney (Molly) Marshall, grandchildren Rachel Ann and Gavin Whitney Marshall, James Ethan (Erica), Ashley Elizabeth and Haleigh Olivia Duke and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Hunt attended Montgomery Bell Academy and graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. He attended Emory University and graduated from Vanderbilt University after a tour of duty in Vietnam and Germany. A Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army, he flew Huey helicopters. Associated with Nashville Carpet Center for more than 30 years, he was loved by customers and a mentor to many young salesmen. Famous, or infamous, for his love of life, he would give you the last shirt on his back if you needed it. Hunt was kind and generous to many individuals and various charitable organizations throughout Nashville. He was known to carry $2 bills for tips and report card incentives. A Pied Piper in person; children loved and followed him wherever he went. Children of all ages loved his magic tricks and visits from "HO HO" aka Santa. He had an incredible ability to communicate with them as well as adults. His laughter, smile, antics, and playfulness will be missed. After many years "on the loose" as a top Nashville bachelor he finally found Debbye and always was thrilled to be a "work in progress" for his "Precious" to whom he was devoted. Visitation will be held 10-11:30 on Saturday, May 26 at First Presbyterian Church with a celebration of life to follow officiated by Rev. Todd Jones. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice that reminds you of Hunt. "Make a difference in someone else's life." Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home
