More detail on this person: Lt.Col. Francis "Frank" O'Brien, Jr Lt.Col. Francis "Frank" O'Brien, Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.), age 68, of Ashburn, VA, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011. He grew up as an Army dependent before attending West Point Military Academy, class of 1965. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years including two tours in Vietnam. Lt.Col. O'Brien received many prestigious honors during his service including the Bronze Star with Valor and Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service with Oak Leaf Cluster among many others. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Northrop Grumman as a consultant. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, and loved vacations at the Outer Banks and golfing every chance he got. He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. O'Brien; children, Laura (Scott) Roach, Kathleen (Matt) Allen, & Bridget (David) Rosenberg; stepchildren, Drew (Amanda) Smith & Kimberly (Ben) Coon; sisters Patricia & Karen O'Brien; grandchildren, Alyssa, Sophia, Sadie, Taylor, Tristan, Ben, Tori, Ellie, & Reid; niece, Krystal, and nephew, Darren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, MaryAnne Morris & Jane O'Brien, and his brother, Richard O'Brien. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow. Arrangements by the Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA.
