More detail on this person: James A. O'Dell James A. O'Dell Owasso Reporter (OK) - Tuesday, December 28, 2010 James A. O'Dell Jr., of Owasso, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 after a long illness. He was born in Tulsa on Aug. 22, 1946 to James Arthur O'Dell and Helen M. Duffield. He was graduate of McLain High School and later from Oklahoma Baptist University. Jim was a decorated USMC veteran, serving his country as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. Jim was united in marriage to Ruth Ellen Radeck on Aug. 17, 1968 in Kansas City, Mo. Following his discharge, they moved to Rogers, Ark. where he worked for Union Carbide, later being transferred to Connecticut where they lived for 12 years. They returned to Tulsa before making Owasso their home. Jim was a member of the Ham Radio Operators of Rogers County and had planned to become involved with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team after retirement. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ellen O'Dell; a daughter, Suzanne Jay and her husband, Travis; brother-in-law, Walter Radeck; and a loving extended family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at Central Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Scott Carlson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, in care of BGCO - Disaster Relief, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112, or to the Disabled American Veterans Association, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250, Attn: Gift Processing. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
