More detail on this person: Thomas Osborn Thomas Osborn South Bend Tribune (IN) - Friday, June 14, 2013 Nov. 28, 1934 - June 10, 2013 SOUTH BEND - LTC Thomas Osborn [U.S. Army Ret.] beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, filed his last flight plan on June 10, 2013. He was born at home in Owensburg, Indiana, on November 28, 1934, the seventh child of Verdie and Susie Strosnider Osborn. He attended the old Owensburg elementary school, graduated from Oolitic High School in 1952, and was valedictorian of his graduating class. His classmates honored him with the Outstanding Alumnus award at his 50th high school reunion. He attended Indiana University and Incarnate Word in San Antonio where he received a BA in 1971. In 1974, he received a Masters in Health Care Administration from Baylor University. His military awards include Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Stars with Oak Leaf Clusters and V device, Purple Heart, Air Medal 1 - 18 with Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, two awards of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Army Commendation Medal, Korean In Hun Medal. He flew Medevac for 18 years and was proud of the fact that he helped save many lives. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Carol Lee Harness of South Bend, Indiana. Farewell Dustoff 7; Your mission was successful and complete. Funeral Services will be held at The First Methodist Church in Boerne at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. After the memorial service and reception, he will be buried with Full Military Honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
