More detail on this person: David Ira Owen, 69, of Richmond, Mo, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at his home. Dave was born on April 24, 1946 in Kansas City, Mo, to Kenneth K. and Mary Jean (Kindell) Owen. He married Glenda Pobst of Oran, Mo on March 14, 1970. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" Owen of Rayville, Mo, Kenneth I. and Tara Owen of Kearney, Mo, 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Denise and Phillip Dirnberger of Oran, Mo, Genni and Danny Forehand of Oran, Mo, 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Joe and Barbara Owen of Williamsburg, Va, Ernie and Linda Owen of Clarinda, Ia, 1 sister, Dr. Alma Jean Owen of Richmond, Mo and 8 grandchildren, Sam, Silas, Gabriel, Owen, Ava, Atlas, Jonah and Kindell. Dave was a conservationist for the U.S.D.A. in Scott County, Cape Girardeau County and retiring in Ray County, Mo, after 42 years of federal service. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #7605. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Missouri. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a helicopter pilot. He was a member of VFW Post #4398. He was a member of the American Legion Post #237. Dave was also a board member of the Missouri Farm Bureau. He had lived most of his life in the Oran, Mo and Richmond, Mo areas. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Ray County Veterans or to Guardian Angel Catholic School. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
