More detail on this person: My dad died of
Hepatitus B (HBV), which destroyed his liver. He
had a liver transplant in October of 1990 but the
body rejected it and he died of internal bleeding
in October 1991. He started to get sick back in
1985 or so and it took the doctors a while to find
the reason. Apparently, the HBV virus can lie
dormant for a long time. The doctors at Lackland
AFB, San Antonio, where he was treated and had
the transplant, said he contracted the virus
through a blood transfusion many years ago,
possibly in Vietnam. I never heard that my father
was injured there but I don't know. This information was last updated 05/18/2016
